Won't you be my neighbor?

I love that my hubby is in the Airforce. I love that we get to go new places and meet new people. The sucky part is leaving the people you've grown to love.

June '08: The old neighbors left and new ones moved in. A good friend of mine from GA was down visiting and it was a rainy day. We sat in the living room staring at the rain. Then we saw movement on the porch next door. My neighbor was sweeping her porch and then her walls (I later found out she was getting the spiderwebs down). Later I saw her knitting. I thought to myself 'well, we don't have much in common'.

A few weeks later over much debating I went to introduce myself to the new neighbors. Little did I know that I would be meeting one of my best friends.

I find it amusing that I was thinking to myself that I would never have anything in common with Lisa. We sat hours on her porch talking, venting, and laughing. And when she moved to new housing we sat on her new porch and did the same thing. I don't know what I would have done without her in Florida.

Last week I got a text from her saying that her and her hubby are going to Germany. I was super excited for her, then my husband said "Baby you know they are not going to come through Tinker to train, they go straight to Germany". Why is it men say things they shouldn't at the most inappropriate times?! This statement made me hit reality, which made me burst into tears. Anyways, even though she is going to Germany I know we will keep in touch (Thank goodness for cell phones and Skype)

Lisa will always be my neighbor. Our backyards will just be Oklahoma and Germany, until we get stationed at the same base or meet again and get to sit on a porch and talk about life.
